since this is where i left you...
...drinking two different beverages at once. it was a bad day.
well, this mother's day significantly made up for anything & everything. it all started around 12:30 saturday. YES. saturday. which means i've had a mother's WEEKEND. hello. our neighbor friends were walking down to the park & asked if they could take our girls with their girls. uh, let me think about that for 1/2 a second & answer a big yes. so they brought them back around 1:45, amelia went easily down for a nap, the oldest neighbor girl stayed with addy to play a bit longer (read: they are old enough to play without needing much intervention at all. in fact, it seems they are most interested in not being bothered, *smile* unless they need a tiny itty bitty shoe put back on a polly pocket.) so i had nearly 2 hours to get ready for this:
a date! with my husband. we dropped off our girls at a friend's house around 4 & jetted outta there. our first plan was a light hike at highbanks metro park...but pouring rain deterred that quickly. so off to the mall we went. & i gave wes a warning: DO NOT TAKE ME HERE. you will regret it. i will find something i do not need but desperately want. he didn't listen at all, in fact he encouraged...$100 later, i have a few new very awesome-opossum clothes. then we meandered over to the bonefish grill...& landed amidst happy hour. 2 sangrias for me later & a huge hunk of chicken covered in goat cheese & ending it with a shared super yummy brownie (yes, all gluten free). so then we pick up the girls a few hours later & voila, date night.
i highly recommend starting a mother's day with a prior date night.
in the morning, i slept in, wes brought me breakfast in bed...(adeline woke me up 30 minutes before that telling me exactly what he was making...but don't tell daddy you know! it's a surprise!). then there was a picnic at a nearby park & a total surprise stop at the new uptown westerville chocolatier store (ugh, how do you spell that?! chocolatier??), then home for a siesta. when amelia went down for a nap, adeline suggested to me...that her & i make--together--a surprise mother's day cake for me. ??? gotta love 4 year olds!
this is the end result.
OH! & wes made me pulled pork, flour tortilla burritos for dinner. with fresh guacamole.
again, heart melt.

these are the newest members in our house. well, outside our house, but 3 freshly hatched robins.

& adeline memorized her first bible verse last week, which she said to the video camera...i'm sure someday i'll get it on here. remember those days i used to put those videos in the super awesome format? yea, not happening right now. as amelia loves to say: maybwe wadder.
