too much, too much!

so much to say.

first let me promise i tried to write & post this morning but first i somehow grabbed the years old can of spray deodorant instead of the ever-useful can of spray shampoo this morning...so my hair was very fresh smelling & even more greasy than before. after i gave up trying to save my greasy hair (who cares? i'm around 3 kids all day!) i then turned to downloading pictures from camera to computer...& somehow i screwed up even that, taking nearly an hour to solve that problem. by that time, life was in full swing & the blog post was pushed out of my list of priorities.

so it goes, right?

this is amelia after playing in their dirt pile

the past few weeks have been CRAZY! we painted for a week, plus some more days. then school was out & summer activities like gardening & visiting parks & family & the pool filled any tiny-itty-bitty moments i used to have by myself. *sigh*

the girls on addy's last day of school.
& yes, amelia had just been wearing daddy's shoes around the house. "clump, clump, clump, *fall* giggle"

some new colors!
the yellow was disastrous. this was the 2nd color we tried. it took over SIX, yes 6, coats plus more in some spots. i thought i was going to throw myself into a swift & violent river after about coat 4. but finally, all painting is complete. (wait, except for some doors...ugh). originally the dining room was going to be this yellow. & then we discovered how many coats & calculated the time & money necessary to do that...& quickly ixnayed that grand yellow/black/white dining room plan. bummer. so...i didn't have any other colors popping into my mind & we *GULP* went with white. i know, WHITE. a fully white room. me, living with a fully white room.

i seriously don't know how to decorate it. i haven't placed anything in a particular spot. i can't seem to wrap my mind around it. which means i need to go to the library or bookstore & search through piles of magazines getting a grasp on decorating within a white room. it's thrown me for a loop, i'm at a loss, etc, etc.

but then we had wes' birthday/father's day last weekend. the girls were totally stoked about the party weekend, the weekend just for daddy...so we gave them some streamers & let them go wild...

then saturday morning, on his birthday, we made some cream cheese danish pastries (yes, gluten free!) & they were super yummy.these girls love to bake, love to help us in the kitchen. it's endearing & frustratingly messy in the same moment.

& this was wes' gift, a 40 inch flatscreen, HD, plasma (i think) tv. i have been squirreling away money since christmas for this gift & i think he was totally surprised that night. my brother in law & sister helped me track down the perfect tv with all the gadgets to keep wes happy for awhile.

so yea, there's been a lot of playing outside in mud because of the continuous rain. it's craziness! all.this.rain.

here's addy doing her new hobby: going around the neighborhood taking pictures with her camera. she'll hook it onto the tiny tricycle (not sure why she chooses this tricycle instead of her bike for these expeditions. maybe there's a work vehicle & then play vehicle difference??)...so she hangs it onto the handle, pedals away like mad, screeches on the breaks like the flintstones might, takes a picture of something catching her eye, then she's off again, in search of her newest muse.

amelia's joy this summer seems to be eating gobs of watermelon, saying the word NO as loudly & incessantly as humanly possible, wearing clothes that are not hers, & playing with her dolls. i wanted to take a picture of this enormous buddha belly she had after eating HALF a melon. she was so water-logged! but instead she wanted nothing to do with the camera or i at that point & kept furrowing her brow & telling me no.

here's a shot of addy at her last game with her soccer & neighborhood buddy

lastly, my grandma has been in the hospital for almost a week now. her small intestine was blocked from scar tissue (previous gull bladder surgery years & years ago) & then finally on thursday, she had surgery. she will be 90 in a few months & somehow came out of surgery as a person decades younger would be: just fine. she may even be discharged today (whether that's the best idea a surgeon has had is yet to be discovered). so that took up much of my extra brain space recently.

& now, the girls are out of town with their grandparents...for the WEEK! whhat? i know. i know.

but wes & i somehow decided this would be a great week to put new flooring down (laminate wood) in two rooms. so tonight will be tearing up carpet & such, then the rest of the week's evenings will be filled with the sound of saws (hopefully). no worries, i have totally opted out of this end of the project. i just don't think i would work a saw very well, plus i don't get along with numbers & rulers also. so if you know how to put flooring down or run a saw, please, i beg you, come over!

this morning i slept in until 9:30-ish, the nannied boy is here now (sleeping) & i'm wondering what to do...
