quote of the day. this is from modern family... a show wes & i love b/c it makes us laugh at ourselves.
phil: how do you feel about getting a hotel room tonight? {talking about valentine's day night}
claire: i would love it but what would you & the kids do?
i love it. i made wes replay it. i just watched it online again. peerrr-fecto! if wes would've said that to me last night, i would've had only my bags packed in a matter of 3 minutes.

so, let me tell you what we did yesterday...i followed some great advice from mrs. judy crawford (who has some great ideas when it comes to fun with kids) & we did a candlelight dinner with our girls. yes, you may remember that adeline likes to stick her fingers in candle flames...so this was a safety hazard type of dinner. but it was fun. & i'm using the word 'fun' very liberally here b/c that means that i consider listening to a preschooler whining about not being hungry & not liking such & such food & 'get me down peeeazzzzzeeed' & at the same time listening to a toddler screeching & reaching for *something* (we never did find out what she wanted) constantly & somehow getting in a few seconds of adult conversation here & there, then laughing over how ridiculous this all seems...well, if you consider that fun, then we had fun.
& this year instead of getting wes some odd gift (he's not such a chocolate or cologne fan) i decided to get him a toy that he could play around with...
see, they both enjoyed the remote-controlled 'thing'. called zoob? so it has this base & then you build these parts off of the parts & can make things that move. like a caterpillar or a person or a dog, etc. they both played with it for *hours*.
then we have poor griswold getting attacked in his sleep by this thing.
i even made a flourless chocolate cake (which wes didn't particularly like b/c he doesn't so much like chocolate, but come on! it's the day for chocolate, i just couldn't make a non-chocolate dessert). adeline & amelia *loved* it, both went through their piece in a minute or two. i paced myself & ate 1 1/2 pieces. wes ate half of his (boo, hiss).
& yes, i'm a dork & cut out heart shapes for the powdered sugar topping. so what?
i was just really happy to have wes home. i know, he was only gone 12 hours...but it was a very terrible 12 hours, filled with illnesses & cranky kids & me trying to figure out how to make gf breadsticks (i actually yelled at the dough several times).

i had a dream last night that i bailed on my family. as in, we were meeting wes at a train station for lunch (for some reason a train station was near his work? not true). so we were all there & he was up & down from the table talking on his blackberry & i was sitting with the kids who were throwing fits, etc. so he came over to the table after just talking with & holding the door for this very attractive woman & i told him that i'm leaving him & the kids. he told me: so what, go. so i left, went to the atm, took half of our money out of the accounts & took a train somewhere. i was panicked & crying but i remember thinking that at least i could watch a full tv show without being interrupted.
!!!!
what the hell is going on in my brain?!
also in the dream were kristin & becky, who i had lunch with after my train ride out of ohio (apparently i took a train cross country to boise?) & i remember watching becky eat a sandwhich & was longing to eat gluten bread.
i think this gf eating is getting to me. lol. really, i think this past week has gotten to me. b/c do you know how hard it is to get gf dough into breadsticks?! it does nothing but stick to everything.
anyway. don't let my dream fool you (as i believe my brother in law cal says "sometimes dreams are just dreams" & they don't mean a whole lot except that your mind is tired & crazy...b/c i don't have any intentions of leaving, although on saturday at 6 pm, if adeline hadn't come to tell me 'daddy be home soon, mommy, it's okay' i might have started to throw dough at the next whining culprit-child. but see how insightful my 3 year old is? i don't know how i feel about her being so, oh, understanding at such a young age...).

it is still too emotional for me to talk about the donato's pizza fiasco, too ripe in my mind. i'm being a bit sarcastic, yes, but really it is very sad...more later, i'm sure.
now i have the house to myself. wes *volunteered* to take the girls out of the house so i could take a shower, read, do this blog, drink my coffee, without interruption. so off i go, to do all those things without interruption!

I like the dorky hearts on the cake. : ) Rhys and I made sugar cookies with dorky heart cut-outs.
ReplyDeleteI meant to comment sooner, I was laughing and had to share your dream with Bill. My favorite part? Wes saying "So go." Oh, the dreams we have. But it would be nice to enjoy a whole show without interruption.
