wes, the morning person...as i lay in bed, wishing the chirping birds dead, you are up. awake! and friggin' happy about it...my brain is working at a very slow, slow pace (think: amelia on her training wheels bike. s.l.o.w...) you are talking so much faster than i can compute. i mean, you have coffee ready for me, waiting for me with some breakfast. is there something better going on in the morning, kids who say things like 'oh i'm so glad my wonderful sweet parents are awake'...does that happen & i don't know about it? are you allowing me to sleep in so you can get all the kind, sweet morning kids to yourself?!
i'm just wondering into the future now...what happens when the girls are out on their own? will you still like the morning? or will you let me still sleep in?
& wait, do you remember when i had that job, when i had to be at work at 7 a.m. with a 45 minute drive? i think i woke up before you then.

anyway, here we are with a rainy day. i'm supposed to have a book to read & nothing else to do, right? but today was my intended day to dust & clean the upstairs (allergy season sucks for the cleaner of the home). but see, it's 10:30 already & i haven't done anything except take addy to school on time, feed amelia continuous streams of pineapple & win several games of sudoku.

cruise pictures!
bri & i are so awesome
mayan ruins in cozumel. also awesome.
dead tree, beautiful bougainvillaea (spelling?)
addy ran into the cabin: I FOUND SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL! THE SKY!
amelia & her nightly watermelon dessert
roatan. xoxox
the girls loved riding in these vans around the islands...because no booster seats! (parents' heart attack)
the glass bottom boat tour! aka: submarine (girls' version of the story, we went on a submarine! but it wasn't yellow...*frown*...")
girls are certain this is cliff & bri, who were diving that morning. maybe???
goodbye, my roatan...
hell, cayman islands. it's a place, apparently.
their version of hell isn't so bad, really.
now for the turtle farm. everyone loved it (except me...kinda grossed me out. the smell, the thought of eating turtle, pick up turtles swimming in their pee & poop...)
dolphins!
you know, i have a thing for the native americans
putting on the ship
keeping it real, cliff.
addy's nightly dessert of strawberries.
so that's over, sadly. back to real life. cleaning, baking, school stuff, classes...& then realizing we left $300 worth of stuff on the ship or post-ship hotel. ugh & more ugh. (most importantly, my phone!)
addy's on THIRTY DAYS! of antibiotics for the P.A.N.D.A.S. & she still has a wee fever! wth? so we're right back into the muck of medical stuff & back for the horrible seasonal allergy bloom time. but, that also means our garden is coming back to life. we have asparagus already! onions are in the ground & many other veggies are in the basement, growing very nicely.
& if you're wondering why i don't blog as much, know that it's all about a certain 4 year old never letting me have a moments peace! seriously, child. I AM ON THE COMPUTER! go do something! & even now, when i sent her up to get dressed, she's still yelling down to me, asking questions, talking to me about which new shirt she should wear.
ah, clothes, new clothes. do all of you parents out there spend your sweet extra money on kids clothes each season? i mean, why don't their clothes from last year fit?! gah! so yesterday i took each child separately to buy a few new things to hold them over until garage sales buy the rest of their summer clothes. so much better with just 1 kid in tow, trying on clothes, bolting around the store, sneaking random items in...funny story: when buying sandals for the cruise at old navy, amelia hid 8 pair of sandals in the bottom of the cart somehow. i had no idea until we got home & i started pulling out all these sandals & she is sitting there naming each purpose. you know, i will wear those for the park, those for ice cream, those for the pool, etc. & of course, the receipt is nowhere to be found.
okay, must jet. clean...with new meyer's brand lavender all-purpose cleaner. then laundry. & eventually, maybe bathrooms. then a nap.
