so. amelia is now sleeping in her big girl bed. i would put a picture or two up BUT the girls were playing with the camera card adapter (what is that called?!), the thing that plugs the camera card into the computer. anyway, it's gone. so that is why there haven't been pictures! & we have some super cute ones, too.
but yes, amelia is now in her new bedroom...it's a 'treetop' theme with a robin's egg blue-turn sky blue-ish with an expandable bed from ikea, a dresser, nightstand, etc. but the best part is her reading nook under this huge tent-like leaf (ikea, again) & a faux-starry night light above her bed.
i just can't believe my baby is going to be two in 11 days. seriously. i think my uterus & brain still at times make me feel or think i'm still pregnant with her. if i feel something bad chuggin' away in my intestines a few times my first reaction has been: J2! STOP THAT KICKING! {j2 was the nickname we gave her, as in junior 2. we are so very creative, eh?} but nope, she's almost 24 months old, has a firm opinion about most things & is starting to say sentences. it is way too cute & frustrating at the same time, this turning two stuff.
anyway. she was a bit nervous in her newly decorated & furnished bedroom but by the time bedtime rolled around--she was putting her books & sippy cup exactly where she wanted it, saying 'there, mommy, book there' & then turning down the comforter & only pulling up the sheet around her. she just seems so tiny in that big bed! but--holy shit, folks--she fell asleep within just a few minutes. we have yet to peek in to see where she fell asleep (her chair, the floor, under the rug, etc) but this is monumental.
the crib is in pieces, against a wall in our bedroom in case amelia freaked out over the big bed or in case we decide to put it up for the nannied-baby-boy in lieu of the pack n play. but this means, no more baby. sure, she still loves on her empty bottle for whatever reason but we will never again be putting a baby of ours in a crib. it sorta made me sad but then i felt a slight twinge to shout out FREEEEDOMMM!!!!!

so the girls spent most of last week with their grandparents--again! they are beyond lucky to have 2 sets of grandparents wholly dedicated to loving on them. i love knowing i can send them off & know they would give their all to make them happy & keep them safe. *sigh* but then there is the grandparent addiction withdrawal. it's harsh. it involves wes & i shooting looks to each other that silently say: why did we pick them up, again?
it's usually a few days of grumpiness & then they're back to whatever their current normal is...but wow. enough to make me want to add some bailey's to that morning coffee. & then make an afternoon coffee just for the purpose of putting bailey's in it. right?

so remember how we got the date of the last day of school totally wrong? well, we also had the date of the first day of school totally wrong. ARGH! does this happen to all parents?! if wes hadn't decided to fully read this one page they mailed us in between 10 other useless pages (all for the elementary school, not the preschoolers!) we would've driven addy to school on august 25th & she would've been the only preschooler there. instead, the preschool starts a week later. i'm a bit bummed b/c i had some stellar ideas for thursday, august 26th--amelia's birthday. i was going to take her out for some morning snacks & a quick trip to the park before addy came home from school...but with her sister along, will it be as special? i guess it will have to be! *smile*

enough rambling for now. but one more thing!
i see a doctor--from the ENT group who did my surgery--this wednesday about my tinnitus. which i've also been totally mispronouncing. apparently it's tin-ni-tus not ti-neye-tus (work with me here on this phonics stuff). anyway, i'm hoping there's something she can tell me about. i did just see a story on THE DOCTORS (stupid, i know but i saw that they were talking about 'noises the body makes' & thought i could maybe just hear about stupid ear ringing & yes! i did!) so yea, there's this totally new thing: put a new sound in the ear via a wee planted stereo basically & it plays soothing noises to mask the annoying-cicada like sound of my tinnitus. then they train the brain somehow through this wee planted stereo to tell itself "i am receiving that correctly" or something funky like that (b/c tinnitus can be from the brain sending the wrong signals. it can also be causes from hearing loss, which i'm sure that's my case given my recent hearing loss so i'm not sure if this would work for me). then the brain finally stops sending the alert message of TINNITUS! RING! TINNITUS! RING! pretty cool, eh? so yea, i will either be stoked or bummed wednesday evening. & tomorrow is my last night of soaking prayer. bummm-er.

I remember the feeling (when we KNEW 2 was enough) of Owen going into his big boy bed. So freeing. Now, we have to go through it again.
ReplyDeleteSO glad you got the room done, cant wait to see it. BTW, I will totally take Addy on the 26th. Sorry about not giving you the carpet cleaner....
I want a leaf-roofed reading nook!
ReplyDeleteSending good (silent) thoughts your way re: the tinnitus.
okay, totally loved the info on the phonetics of tinnitus, way fun. so, is the second "i" a short "i"? which syllable gets the accent? i'm practicing...see how important small grammar and phonetic rules AND how much fun :)
