to my sweet, sweet adeline,
five years old! can you believe it? i can't. a few months ago you said you didn't want to turn 5 because being 4 is so much fun...then suddenly turning 5 became exciting & something to look forward to. it's good that you changed your mind--in your fifth year some awesome things are going to happen. i'm guessing you'll start riding your bike without training wheels, learn to write words & numbers, GO TO KINDERGARTEN!, learn to cross a street & use a phone (but you are NOT getting your own iphone, like you've asked repeatedly--at least not until mommy gets one first).
this year has been amazing, watching you emerge from a young preschooler to a mature preschooler, a kid. you have been dealing with some difficult stuff but still you make the decision to ask for hugs & even snuggles (!!)...you are learning things that even some adults never will & i am so proud of you. i mean, i can't go across the monkey bars all by myself--i promise you that. i am learning so much from simply being your mama...sometimes i wonder who is teaching who the most. *wink*
