scenes of destruction

this morning i heard constant jabbering downstairs. i assumed both girls were awake & wes was being overtaken by the kids & i would find him huddled in a corner hiding under a blanket, with earplugs in. but the desire to stay in bed a few minutes longer kept me from saving him from his assumed hiding place...& a few minutes later he brought me some coffee--a latte!--& then went to wake amelia up.

so all that talking & constant talking was just one little girl, adeline. amelia was still rolling around in bed, telling wes 'no, i'm not going to school' while addy was downstairs jumping around, pretending to be in gym class ("now kids see how far you can jump, i jumped 3 lines!, now put your legs here, watch how i do it, i jumped 3 lines!...moth! get away from our house moth. i'm going to tell mrs. rochon theres a moth in our house. why is there a moth in our house? how did this moth get in? is it time for school yet? where is amelia?...")

she was super excited for today, apparently. i am amazed, truly in awe of how much she has learned in the past 2 years. really, 2 years ago she could say about 30 words. now she has 30 word sentences. 30 word questions. about an hour before wes gets home, i begin to answer all of addy's constant questions with "ask your daddy when he gets home". and she will, she totally remembers. everything, i am a bit freaked out by her memory, actually.

this is also a quip from this morning:
wes: addy, what do you want for breakfast?
addy: (with a faraway look) why did we give santa cookies last year for christmas?

this weekend we are throwing a double a birthday party. addy is a bit ticked off that she has to share her birthday party with her sister (because it's never that amelia is sharing her party with addy?) & amelia doesn't care who's party it is, as long as this little boy (edmond) is there. it's a silly party. don't ask me what that means besides both girls wanted a different theme & i didn't want to do 2 themes or something too gender specific (really, what would edmond do if it was a princess party? i guess dress up like a princess, eh?). anyway, so a silly party it is...& we're making silly putty. so we thought it best to do a sample & had some science experiments going on.

so yea, we have silly putty in our house. which means addy sat at the table joyfully, yet carefully, rolling the bright orange silly putty out, making shapes & pretend cookies. amelia poured apple juice on hers, mixed it well, then spread it all over the chair & part of the table & floor. then she sat down amongst all that juicy putty.

ugh. in case you need to know this, cold water is best for cleaning up silly putty.

so last night we got it out again (well, addy's portion. amelia's is probably clogging our drain as i type) & addy again carefully played with hers. amelia somehow managed to get a long, clumpy string of it in her hair.

double ugh. to get silly putty out of long hair, i suggest using a lice comb (we've never been blessed with lice, but somehow it came with an infant grooming kit at a baby shower for addy). anyway, pour lots of water on it  & then start at the bottom. it takes a long time.

amelia's outfit this morning

see how chipper she was this morning?!

amelia only wanted a banana for breakfast.

addy loves taking pictures of someone taking her picture. "it cracks me up" is how she explains this hobby.

the girls just did this the other day: organized their 'arts & crafts' utensils (yep, that's what they told me). i had nothing to do with it, but it does warm my mama heart to see them organizing.

i was left in charge of the dolls. this is emma. amelia even left a light on for her...

this is addy's doll, also emma.

somehow there is always a scene of destruction going on at amelia's doll house: people laying scattered on the floors, a car through the first floor...

also another doing of amelia: hiding her morning pull up. yuck. (i just found this one this morning. it was from yesterday. super yuck, eh?)

& FINALLY we have some of wes' legos up & on display. the girls love them & have already broken half of them. & wow--if you want to see wes get angry within seconds, damage a lego!

did i mention that addy scored THREE goals at her soccer game the other day?!
