said vs. unsaid

so are some things better left unsaid? as in: i've been pretty bummed the past few weeks & that is my reason for not posting. now, aren't you glad i haven't been posting daily talking about how shitty life can be?

for the record, i did attempt to write a post last friday discussing the similarities of that day & absurdist theater. i love absurd humor & theater...just not when it's my day, right? there was a moment when i was trying to get the nannied boy down for a nap, reading a sandra boynton book. i kept hearing some odd noises, which kept me asking the nannied boy if he was okay. he would just look at me with his beautiful big brown eyes, questioning my sanity silently.

finally, addy shouted out from the master bathroom: mommy it's me, i'm going potty! i'll finish somewhere else, okay?

then she walks right out the door without another word, no clothes on. the nannied boy just looks at me again with those eyes, points to the book & says "book", nodding.

there were many other stories that are now a bit cloudy in my memory, did it really happen? but the reason i wasn't able to post is because somehow when i shut the keyboard drawer to check on something, it went into & through the drawer, getting stuck. i couldn't type, couldn't get the drawer unstuck. no worries, wes fixed it later -- somehow our continual closing of the keyboard drawer wore out the metal stopper thing in the back. just because i'm that strong, right?

so last night i let out a good cry for a bit & today woke up feeling a bit better than i have for a few weeks. amelia & i had breakfast sitting next to each other. she looked at me, took my hand in her wee one & said: we are great mommies, huh?!

after that, how can a warm rainy winter day be a bad one?

last night we went to an information meeting for our school district's kindergarten registration. next week we will be able to pick up addy's packet at her school & we're off & running to kindergarten! her birth date is just a few days before the cut off, so we held her back at the suggestion of her teachers. i wasn't totally convinced because addy is a smart kid, she likes to be challenged. but her preschool teacher is so awesome, she has been giving addy extra work, sending home books for her to read (YES! she is reading!) & then addy does some of her own education with numbers & such. she is the perfect student, she is a leader in her class--a kind & empathetic & encouraging friend.

& she is so utterly excited to start kindergarten in the fall. (well, they start in mid august, so i guess that's not the fall, eh?). but last year she was terrified of kindergarten & would say things like 'i will never go to kindergarten' & just last night she was dancing around the halls, talking non stop about how excited she is about it all.

i guess what i'm trying to say, is i'm glad we listened to her teachers & addy's grandparents.

& now i'm being told me must get ready for judy's house play group! so apparently mommy amelia is more on time than i am...
