iyiyi!

there are a few things i truly expected the girls to be done with by now: dora the explorer, caillou, taking my jokes seriously, thinking the words poop, pee, & butt are hilarious any time they are spoken, making up endless knock-knock jokes that don't make any sense...yea, i guess i thought they would've caught on about me counting how long it takes them to do something. but i think that has more to do with both of them being ultra competitive.

so today is a snow/weather/calamity day. whatever it's called now, it's still a kid's favorite day & a parent's nightmare, especially after 2+ weeks of winter break! naturally, amelia thought it necessary to shine a flashlight in my eyes as i lay in bed just after wes left for work. (i lay in bed waiting for my pain meds to take effect. ha, they are not narcotic, so no worries folks, for the meds to start decreasing fibro pain, is maybe how i should say that). laying down this morning was just not an option with the flashlight, then the ceiling light being turned on & off after i confiscated the flashlight (i can totally still perform ninja quick moves, just painful ones). then amelia proceeded to jump on me & the bed, adeline nearly fell off backwards as she looked for her teddy bear & then within 5 minutes amelia was sobbing in a time out after she screamed at me because i won't let her take a bath, again, after last night's epic bubble bath filled nearly to the top.

this morning has not been stellar, right? so yea, to make a crappy morning better, the girls decide to watch dora the explorer. ugh! i can hardly contain my distaste for dora any longer. i have already told them under no circumstances can they watch caillou. for maybe ever, right?

did i also mention that addy took my phone & video-recorded me making breakfast. why? because she said it's funny when i am grumpy in the morning... great!

i may take them out today. is that against the law or something today? i should check that out, if we have a weather emergency when we can only be out of our homes in dire circumstances...or wait, getting out of the house IS a dire circumstance today! i may just go buy a trampoline for the basement, then lock my kids down there with it. while i sip something yummy & read a book.

i may have a few new year's resolutions! isn't that exciting? for example, reading a book about how two introverts can maintain healthy relationships while married. but seriously...i vow to find a fibromyalgia & shitty-balance person exercise program or whatever. i fall over while doing yoga now & also can't do the up & down so i think i may stick to this one dr. oz 20 minute thing...it's kinda lame (but effective!) and i think i should get a bit more active than that. so there's a resolution.

my other is about reading: to read at least a book a week & then also to get through the bible in a year again. although i haven't started yet! only 6 days late to start.

so i had a nightmare last night that someone brought pecan pie & addy took a bite & almost died. my dream ended before she died, thankfully. but seriously, hate those dreams! what do parents of kids without any life threatening allergies have nightmares about? i can't remember dreaming of amelia dying from anything...what horrible stuff, eh?

oh wait, i also resolve to not dwell on negative stuff! ha!

okay, so i'm reading Ender's Game (orson scott card) right now. i'm not sure how i never came across it in school. for being published in the 70's it's kinda creepily similar to how things are now, you know? i guess minus the buggers--the aliens who are supposedly attacking earth/humans. those i don't know about & certainly my 7 year old is not doing computer programming & learning how to live & fight in zero gravity.

but i've also read several books in december & i think i have a new author to add to my favorites list, willa cather. i read My Antonia last month & then finally received O Pioneers via the library...and i must say, she's amazing! not up to my love of Steinbeck but close. i've kept my goodreads account close & the girls' Arthur books even closer (you know, keep your friends close & enemies closer?? get it??). i wish i had been counting how many times i would see the Arthur Christmas show...argh! (tina tina talking tina tina tina talking tina...muffy & francine arguing over hannukah & christmas; baxter day, etc). my kids don't really watch a lot of tv...they just like to watch the same thing over & over & over.

  1. Ha!! I recommend noting all the things they do that wake you up easily, as in ten years I'm guessing you will want to remember how to wake up *teenagers* easier..... funny stuff. I like Dora better than Arthur, by the way...
