a few posts ago i moaned about adeline's mystery illness. & now, we have the beginnings of an answer with walking pneumonia or more specifically with a positive blood test for mycroplasma igm (or less specifically, if you want to be more correct; long explanation, but this positive result from a blood test is about an atypical bacteria or something like that. we really haven't been able to get a lot of info about it out there & the pediatrician mentioned that this usually ends in walking pneumonia. & considering how long she's been dealing with these symptoms...i'd say she's well into walking pneumonia, eh?
good thing is that she doesn't have to miss school once all traces of a fever are gone (hopefully by monday) & this isn't easily transmitted to others.
what i find interesting is that the ped's kept telling us 'she's not contagious' etc...but she was. ??? but yes, if she has WP, as i said earlier, not easily transmitted. so rest easy, my near-by friends. (i guess it takes actual spit swap, plus a host of other things to line up...check out that site i gave earlier, lol). what's also interesting is what could also cause this mycoplasma infection range from mono to chlamydia. argh.
so yea, forgot to mention that we took addy to the ped's again on tuesday after another high fever, had blood work (including a wheat intolerance test! anxiously awaiting those results) & we have yet to drop off her stool & urine samples...we are hoping for a more precise answer but so far we just have the high possibility of WP & then the positive mycoplasma igm test. so! they tested for about a dozen different infections & whatnot & most of the tests are still not complete.
i just have to say again how grumpy adeline is when she has this fever...wow. saying it's been stressful the past few days is an understatement (this is seen by me going out with a friend last night, leaving wes right before bedtime to handle the crazed monkeys alone. sorry dear, it was a must! ...judy & i had a very nice time, drinking martinis & eating nothing but dessert at a fancy restaurant. ah! the life!). today, on the way home from the park--we met a neighborhood friend of addy's there, whose mom i told 'nope, addy's not contagious', this was before we got the message from the ped's office. anyway, on the way home from the park adeline *screamed* & cried the entire way (just about a half mile total, but still, long enough to develop more severe hearing problems from walking behind her).
so it goes. hopefully this gets us to the final answer with this mystery rash & fever crap...

I am sorry to hear about Addy! Apparently I had the same thing about her age and was grumpy too (according to my mom). I hope she is feeling better soon.
