two down, three to go (halloween events)
i think we were more tired than the girls, at a certain point. for the past 3 years we've walked with the same family from down the street. they have two girls as well, just a few months apart from both amelia & adeline. i think this year was just a peak of what is to come: 4 girls tearing up the neighborhood, hunting down the best houses. tonight our friends had 2 other girls with them whose parents had to work--so yea, 6 girls. all so adorable in their costumes. i think we had a cat (amelia), a columbus crew mascot cat (friend's 2 year old), princess complete with wand, tiara, & glowing dress (friend's 4 year old), little red riding hood (addy), fireman (friend's friend's 6 year old), & cowgirls (5 year old friend's friend's daughter). *phew*! so yea, we received many oohs & aahs.
addy was so freakin excited. i think her spirit was glowing--if it can actually do that ?? this is pretty much what she looked like from after school until we left to beg. & this would be me trying to talk amelia into wearing the cat mask. didn't happen.

the cat who just wanted to EATCANDYNOWEATCANDYNOW ...& have you ever tried to put lip gloss & make up whiskers/nose on a 2 year old? highly UNrecommended.
wes taking off down the street. he wanted to get a full street in before meeting up with our friends & their girls. & yep, there's addy pointing: go there! there!
my goodness do they have a lot of candy. & somehow we still had candy left from the bowl we abandoned on the front porch for all the beggars. i totally expected someone to dump the entire bowl in their pillow case, right?
one of the neighbors had freshly popped boxes of popcorn for the parents...a nice treat, eh?
now for tomorrow night's 'autumn' bash at the church. why don't they just call it a halloween bash & get it over with?! it's the same: dress up, candy, then games & jump houses. call it what it is, right?
I actually did a little survey of the churches down here for my Halloween section front to see what, if anything, they did or had to say about the holiday. Almost all of them talked about avoiding the "dark" side of Halloween and focusing on safe, family fun. I suppose having a harvest festival is the safe, family fun. No evil witches or ghouls?
