i am totally amazed how quickly the years are passing. do i sound so very old, now? but really, i am remembering both girls' births with senses, the first time the slippery, wiggling newborn was placed on my newly deflated torso. the first time i looked at the newborn fingers, toes, nose, eyes, hair. hearing "it's a girl!" & hearing wes tell me how beautiful she is, how beautiful i am. smelling that wonderful newborn smell (uh, after their first bath--that immediate newborn smell isn't so wonderful *smile*)...
it's as if all of this just happened this morning. but somehow it was 3 years ago, at 3:41 a.m... amelia joined us--3 weeks early--& i now know it's just because she loves to be with us, part of the family, being snug between arms. she is hilarious & stubborn, feisty & kind, helpful, thoughtful, boisterous, imaginative, a problem solver...i could go on & on. i love this little one as much as a mother can. it's difficult to see her growing up so quickly. i mean, preschool! but it also amazes me that we are her parents, the ones to raise her, love & discipline...this THREE year old amelia.
millie bean, you are so very loved.

to amelia's delight, her grandma sue was visiting for a few days...so we were able to go out & do something fun with adeline & the nannied baby boy: the zoo! we really wanted to visit jungle jack's landing, an amusement park for little kids at the zoo--but just the week before they closed it for weekdays. bummer! but we still had a blast. seriously, the zoo has almost never been so fun! maybe it's because it was perfect weather, in the 70's, sunny with big puffy clouds, a light breeze. amelia was a shiny happy little girl.
aren't these tiger partners so cute?!

so then we headed home for the afternoon & went back out for dinner, to get black beans per amelia's request.
can you tell she had a long, exciting day? this is her at dinner, after some guacamole & chips, waiting for her platter of black beans to arrive.
then suddenly, the fountains outside the restaurant rejuvenated her. this time, we planned ahead & had bathing suits on under their clothes...
addy doing a run through. she insisted that green hair was the only way to celebrate amelia's birthday...
amelia's new doll--doesn't it look so real?! she most assuredly needs a few more decades before becoming a parent...i can see children services on their way now if this doll treatment continues.
addy, mid fountain
amelia & miles (she named him. i did suggest miles--it was supposed to be her name if she was a boy)
after seeing how much fun the girls were having, i just couldn't resist jumping in as well...then suddenly sue was in the fountain also! i think her & i playing in the fountains with them totally shocked & awed the girls...& everyone else sitting around the fountain, *smile*
