ruthless soccer player

so maybe that title is a bit overstating it but! i was totally shocked how addy hung in the game. she even nicely played on the opposite team for the first quarter (6 minutes--super long) when one of their players arrived late. but all day she was telling me how 'neeervuff' she was (nervous for the non-addy speakers). on the car ride there she was looking over her shirt, cleats, socks, & shin guards. just to make sure it was all correct.

then when she found out aunt kristi was coming to see her first game...oh my. she was looking & looking & looking for her (she arrived before the game started, thankfully. meltdown diverted).

so there was this girl on the other team who must've been having a rough day emotionally, as all 4 year olds can have (wait, & all 30 year olds) & to top that off she was pretty good. so she would take off with the ball down the mini field...but once adeline got the hang of it, she decided to go off after her (not when she was on her team--which would've been pretty funny, eh?)

& this is why i'm saying she was ruthless. i'm so glad i snapped the pictures b/c it's just better to see the story unfold:

the green dragon catches up while emotional teal is thinking about something important (like why does my team mate keep scoring goals in the other team's net?!). the green dragon waits for the perfect moment. adrenal pumping.

that's right! ELBOW TO THE BACK! from the green dragon to emotional teal (seriously, that was their team name, very creative, eh? green dragon is much more interesting & ominous)

& if you look closely here you will see from left to right:

back turned to us teal player is wondering how to tell the difference between each team's goals

& yes, emotional teal player is beginning to sob about adeline elbowing her (& ahem, stealing the ball!)

green dragon ruthless player is getting a kind but appreciative lesson in sportsmanship (but a sideways thumbs up!) from her coach (yes, with his 2 year old daughter attached at the hip).

seriously folks, this stuff is hilarious! totally worth the $65. sign your kid up for soccer if only to watch, knowing your kid will most likely not be a soccer superstar but still, humorous.

so yea, addy came home on the school transportation car today. i was FREAKING OUT from 10:45 until 11:02 when they pulled into the parking lot. i cleaned so much during those 17 minutes, come to think of it. see, instead of allowing myself to create possible death & kidnapping scenarious, i vacuumed & picked up toys from the entire first floor. it was like i was on fast forward. 

but she arrived home safe & happy, saying 'i really like that car, mommy. i talk to the lady a lot about school & how much i love that car seat' (she's big enough for a booster seat but we just haven't taken the time to switch yet). another step in growing up.

also, we visited my grandma today & the girls were CRAZY. now say that in a scream-whisper with large eyes. but at the end i said something about how crazy they were being & my grandma (who's not known for being overly kind on words) laughed (yes, family, laughed!) & said "if kids weren't like that then i would be concerned for them"...
