so not 30 minutes after this post, i go to pick up adeline from preschool. i had just chatted on the phone with a friend who is going through similar medical problems with herself & her kids. i actually thought to myself after i hung up--in the one minute between hanging up with the commiserating friend & talking with addy's teacher as i put her in the car seat--yes, i actually had a positive thought.
we seem to be reaching a plateau, where we know what's wrong with us & don't need to see more specialists, run more tests...we don't need more expensive tests. it will get better from here! that was my thought.
then addy's teacher approached me. with a grim face. she quickly said they attempted another hearing test on adeline (my knee-jerk reaction: why didn't i know about this before?!). and then she went on to say that adeline didn't allow the test to be complete but they think she needs to have a full hearing test done again. you know, at the children's hospital center. with an audiologist or two. that she needs to get her ears checked. that our pediatrician needs to be involved in this. that they need to have this done to fully understand her speech delay. when was her last hearing test? do you still have those results? what does her pediatrician think of her hearing? you need to have another test done, maybe just call her pediatrician this afternoon.
my thoughts: WE NEED TO PAY EVEN MORE MONEY. WE CAN'T AFFORD TO DO THIS WHOLE THING AGAIN. that we should probably just cancel our vacation b/c after another round of pediatrician referred to an audiologist to a 2nd audiologist to a speech evaluation to another hearing test b/c the first didn't go well to realizing that adeline will not UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE let anyone near her ears & then must put her under anesthesia to have a full hearing test complete. then i betcha they'll tell us that her hearing is fine! (then i will go to jail for assaulting an audiologist or two *smile*)...
maybe we need to look into a way to take the rest of wes' paycheck & directly deposit it into our dr's accounts.
