!!LO HICIMOS!!

so we did it, the haircut. it's done. my adeline has short hair! YIPPPEEE! (can you hear me shouting this miles away from my house?). i scheduled the appointment, we were there on time & then waited another 20 minutes. grrr. but they have a playground indoors, so it really wasn't a big deal. plus suckers & balloons. i mean, my girls could have stayed there for the entire day. suckers! balloons! indoor playground! dora on video! who could want more?

the before shot (we had her hair braided for the past two days after the 40 minutes of hair brushing day. that's why it's so kinky. what can i say? she's a kinky kinda girl)

ahem, yes, that's an upside down headband around her waist. i have no clue why she does this but according to her, this is the best way to use headbands (they last on her head approximately 2 minutes). b/c of the kinky hair a wash was a must (per the stylist. i wasn't going to argue w/ someone who was soon taking scissors to my daughter's hair. really, it was only $1 extra).

the best part was a surprise. i didn't think her hair was long enough for this but apparently it was, even an inch over (12 inches!); she gave her hair to locks of love. she wasn't so excited to hold her hair up for a picture...but i still made her do it. can't you see the look on her face screaming: you are so dorky, mom.

when the stylist told adeline what locks of love is she mentioned something like "we will send your hair to a place that makes a hair-hat for kids who are sick & can't have hair for awhile" & then went on to say something about brain surgeries & having their heads shaved, etc. adeline looked at her & said "yea! my mommy has that owie!" i was totally FLOORED. she remembers it all so well. kids just suck it all in & i don't think they get the credit deserved to them. anyway, the stylist looked up at me with this questioning look & i was like 'uh, yea, i had a tumor removed from my inner ear last summer & part of my head was shaved.' then there was this look like on the stylists face, something along the lines of 'is this lady dying?!' (if you've seen the look on someone's face you knwo what i'm talking about. mention tumor near the brain & people get very kind & gentle with you suddenly *smile* it's all good, though). anyway, it was just an interesting moment. i had no clue that adeline understood the whole idea of the surgery & tumor & head shaved. smart kid.

so anyway! hair cut!

i think i miss her long hair a bit but she doesn't seem to care one lick. all i have heard since then is: when we going to the library? (me: right now), when we going to the park? (me: when amelia wakes up from her nap). when can i watch caillou? (me: argh! don't you want to watch curious george?!). when i drink my chocolate milk? (me: when we get home). nothing about her hair. i can't wait to brush her hair for all of 2 minutes! life just got a bit easier.

when i told adeline to smile for the camera, amelia jumped out of her high chair & swiped adeline's pbj. amelia was just waiting for the best moment, it appears. love these girls...always exciting, eh?
